HomeFree Perspectives…It really is everything!

So, I just spent my first night indoors for 2017!!! Grateful for the rest. It’s a beautiful house. Wonderful bed. …all the comforts. My brother and his fam are super tolerant of me, and my lifestyle. They’ve seen me through a lot. I am blessed to have such amazing and supportive people in my life. Being indoors got me thinking, a lot, tho… It’s nothing personal, but last night I felt like every cough was gonna wake the whole house. To the point where I buried my head in the blankets to muffle them. …but, not just the blanket, my shirt first, so as to ensure I didn’t get phlegm on the perfectly perfect sheets. Did my feet stink up the whole house? Was the dog, or some unknown alarm gonna go off at 2 am when crossing the kitchen for water? …have you ever tried to poop silently in a house so quiet that you can hear the fridge running 3 rooms and a door away? And blinds??? What’s that about? I get that some people have crazy schedules, but I woke up at my usual 5’ish and thought it was midnight. I was grateful to hear a car alarm elsewhere in the neighborhood just because it was a sound I wasn’t responsible for. Lol …so I used the opportunity to cough. …under the covers.
It’s simply a matter of personal space. Houselessness can make it hard to feel comfortable in other peoples space. In the woods, in a park, or on the street I feel it’s still “my turf”… And I’m a different person in that element. I can fart, loudly. I can take a walk at 3 am when my back won’t let me sleep. I can just lay in my bedroll and feel the familiarity of the fabric or the smell of my drool spot on my own pillow and know that Im not making a new job for a bottle of spray and wash.
Again, I am super grateful for the love and acceptance of my brother, and all of the people who invite me in.
…but if you have a traveler in your life, maybe this will help you understand if they tend to stay in the same spot, or sit in the same chair, act reserved or uncomfortable, don’t readily accept what is offered, or want to go sleep in the yard. Lol
…some of us feel more comfortable hearing the first bird chirps of the morning than the icemaker. <3
