A pagan holiday honoring St. Brigid or the beginning of Spring.

Feel lost? Feel stuck? shut inside? cramped up? Tied up? Fearful? The world can be a scary place, I totally understand! I offer a transformation, if your willing and it suits you at this time in these ways. I hope only to offer some simple tools that can help guide us through some fearful times. This is simply suggestions that might help you at this time of year stay focused on yourself and what YOU bring to the world.

Today many lines have been drawn in the sand by us or those that see us as enemies. Some of us are experiencing great transformation in how we live in the world while others are feeling the need to fall into hiding. Fear grasps many of us and takes us for a ride. This winter many of us have reflected the astrological makings of the time of transition, the times that change things. Fear and deception are at some of their most massive moments. As Nahko says in his song “There is a war between fact & fiction, we have no time to dispell.” Some of us are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and are calling those further in the dark to come forward and see the light. See these changes in our world are meant to be your fuel, your fuel to transform, change and align YOUR life with YOUR values. What do you stand for? What has meaning for your? What holds your heart? What do you need to change in your life to be more of the person you want to be? How do we step closer to our dream? I invite you to ask yourself these questions and bring it to whatever divine energy holds your hand and see what unfolds. If your will is to try I offer these insights for this time of year.

Imbolc

A Neo-Pagan holiday that as a Divine Androgyne I took the piece I liked the most for myself, after some exploration. As with most religions and spiritual paths I find the approach of taking what we love the most about something and using self sovereignty to apply it in a way that is helpful for us, personally. I have a variety of experiences around this holiday among a variety of paths, or around this date. What do you apply to mark this time in our lives? Do you notice that another Spring is approaching us, are you ready for new growth?

I use the holiday as a marker. A marker that I have made it through most of winter and warm weather is on its way. From the darkest places comes the brightest lights, its time to focus on the light that is emerging. Soon I will be able to spread my wings and feel the freedom of summer. I feel this marks the beginning of my preparation for spring. A preparation of not just ME but my home, relationships, and life in general. I have spent the winter looking inwards at who I am, my shadow, and my experience in this human skin. Now I must prepare for what is forward. I feel the fire wanting to transform me. Physically I mark this transition with spring cleaning, warm water therapy, and/or a bond with fire. There are times I don’t get to it ON THE DAY but any small action around this time can help us manifest our intentions for our coming year. If nothing else the date passing reminds us to understand our own intentions and maybe give power to them by acknowledging what we intend. Sometimes my rituals are more casual than other times but noticing the marker in our experience can help us prepare for the transformation on its way.

Some Ideas to mark this holiday and welcome transitional transformation into your life-

-Build a fire in a fire place or outdoors

-Share a fire with friends

-Offer a prayer to a fire, even as simply as your stove fire or personal candle, your intention for transformation

-Visit a warm body of water

-Make a Brigid Doll

-Make & Share a feast with friends & family

-Spring Clean your house, be sure to use incense

-Start indoor seedlings

A prayer and honoring for St. Brigid if it suits you:

Brigid

In a glass
Of scryer’s black
Visions of life
Bring full impact

Wells pour out
Your sacred flame
Prophetic words
In wisdom’s name

The womb impregnated
With poetic rhyme
Birthed to life
In seasons time

Summoned
In your healing light
Be with me on
This moonstruck night
