Inclusive Spirituality? Happy Anniversary DiversiTree!
By Hollis Taylor
One year ago I published the first article for DiversiTree, written by a Pagan GLBTQ Activist “Rev Kess“. DiversiTree is a publication that was “Divinely Inspired“. When I was offered a publishing position, I hadn’t even danced with the idea of being a publisher. I just wished there was a place that I could share my spiritual experience as a genderqueer person. When I was offered a publishing position, that ended up not working out, I couldn’t deny that I had truly inspired others and myself. DiversiTree was born last Ostara and has grown tremendously in its first year.
One of the things that I am often faced with when I talk about DiversiTree is what its about and what kind of contributions I am looking for. DiversiTree is a Divinely Inspired Online Publication for Inclusive Spirituality. By “Divinely Inspired” I mean that I was lead to understand I should be a Publisher as well as an author. I had dreamed my whole life of being an author but being a publisher had just never occurred to me. Today I feel like its my divine calling as I begin to sort out opening my own publishing company. Divinely Inspired is when you are lead into something that you had no idea without much control or guidance from our human brain.
As for DiversiTree- I try to keep it focused on Inclusive Spirituality. I ask that my authors be completely inclusive in anything they write. I ask for non-binary, autistic, sacred sluts, home free and anyone else that normally has an oppressed voice. I purposely do not focus on religions because I feel they all have oppressive tendencies of some kind or another. Instead I want to celebrate all paths that lead to loving inclusion for all people. I hope to raise up any individual that supports inclusive spirituality. You will see their art, books, events and so forth reviewed on DiversiTree. We publish my gender variant voice about being a non-binary person in the Alchemical Fire – A very Inclusive Spiritual path. We have published great intelligent articles about Sacred Sluts and the work being done in Red Tents. We have starting a regular column that is un-edited in order to preserve the perspective of the person writing it whom is “On The Spectrum” as well as bisexual otherkin and a member of the OTO.
Recently we have gained the wonderful volunteer hours from Ace – A Christian Transman GenderQueer who not only helps our social media but also has been writing about the experience of being non-binary in a Christian community. I have several other non-binary people offering to make contributions in the coming months that come from other paths as well. I am excited to expand and offer opportunities for the newest column “Divine Androgyne” to step up into the world and offer their wisdom.
My hopes and dreams include grand delusions of all spiritual paths meeting together to understand each other in a way that brings peace and love to our world. The time to fight over God and beliefs has ended. Now we hold hands in understanding that we all have a special path that is meant to uplift and inspire others. My dream is simply that all living beings will be called to be their most authentic peace loving kind person they can be all the while be celebrated for their authenticity by the community. Together we can go far.
I am accepting contributions from anyone interested in talking about “Inclusive Spirituality” or anyone that wants to support the message. I want to build community around inclusive spirituality, hence why you see reviews of events, books, and art. All of the contributors, artists, and authors in DiversiTree are willing to support the ideas of inclusive spirituality. DiversiTree hopes to unite all of us that support inclusive spirituality so together we can help create a more loving, peaceful, and kind world.
